What is a Life Coach?

The International Coach Federation defines life coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

Life coaches work with clients who are often looking for guidance with their confidence, self-worth and self-esteem, work-life balance, relationships, finding their purpose, career changes, transitions, and improving their overall emotional and physical health.

A life coach helps the clients identify barriers and obstacles to create awareness, which leads to the creation of specific actions to take to move towards their goals.

Is a life coach like a therapist?

Therapists and other mental health professionals focus on healing, treating mental health conditions, and helping people work through trauma and other issues from their past. They

diagnose. Their services are covered by most health insurance companies.

Life coaches work differently. While working with a life coach may help you to deal with some unresolved issues and help you become aware of obstacles presently getting in your way, life coaches cannot treat mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, or any other mental health condition.
